Busways pays tribute on ANZAC Day

29 April, 2025

Busways proudly honours the service and sacrifice of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) on ANZAC Day, paying tribute to those who served in wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping missions.

Continuing a long-standing tradition, Busways provided charter services for veterans and their families in Adelaide and Port Macquarie, ensuring they could attend ANZAC March with ease.

In Port Macquarie, NSW, Busways continued a tradition spanning over a decade, providing free shuttle buses to transport veterans and their families to and from ANZAC Day commemorations.

A young Busways driver, Filippo Donati, driving for the service for the first time, found the experience humbling: “ This is my first time participating in delivering this bus service, and I feel honoured to play even a small role in paying tribute to these men and women who sacrificed so much for Australia.”

Veterans in New South Wales were also offered free travel by wearing or presenting their Australian Defence Uniform, displaying service medals, or carrying a letter of accreditation from a recognised ex-services organisation such as the RSL. In South Australia, veterans could access free public transport by wearing their uniform, displaying service medals, or presenting a veteran ID card.

In Adelaide, Busways team and drivers once again supported the community by offering free transport to veterans attending commemorative events.  Speaking about the Service, Ian Robinson, Busways Driver “I do this in memory and respect for all that was sacrificed by the fallen and by everyone who gave so much. Providing transport for veterans and their families is a small gesture and in no way compares to their sacrifice.”

Busways extends a heartfelt thank you to all our drivers who helped transport veterans and their families on ANZAC Day. Their dedication and community spirit ensured that those who served were able to attend ceremonies and be honoured as they deserve. Lest we forget.
