Services continue smoothly as new Central Coast bus contract starts

On Sunday 28 July, Busways will begin a new contract to continue operating bus services on the Central Coast for the next seven years.

Customers can rest assured that it will be business as usual from day one, with smooth continuation of services delivering the same timetable that was recently introduced on 8 July 2024.

Since the new contract announcement, Busways in collaboration with Transport for NSW has meticulously executed a transition project to ensure uninterrupted service quality.

Under the new contract, Busways continues to operate over 160 buses from the Gosford and Wyong bus depots, serving 4.5 million passengers on nearly 400,000 bus trips annually.

Managing Director Byron Rowe said Busways has a proven track record in delivering high standards of customer experience, safety, and service innovation to the Central Coast community for over 30 years since starting on the Central Coast in the 1990s.

“We are proudly Australian owned and our commitment is to deliver reliable bus passenger services to the Central Coast community over the next seven years,” Mr Rowe said.

“We will focus on investing in the region, improving customer experience, introducing efficiencies, adopting new technologies and appropriately growing services alongside population growth.”

Busways looks forward to a continued positive collaboration with the NSW Government to provide customer value and innovate public transport accessibility. Busways was awarded the new contract following a competitive open tender process in 2023.
