From puppy love to a cuppa and a chat, Busways R U OK? Day events support mental health for employees
There’s nothing better than a visit with a furry four-legged friend to improve your mood or a chat over a cuppa to check in with a colleague, and that’s just what Busways employees did on R U OK? Day.
Strengthening mental health support for employees is a key focus for Busways all year round and this year’s R U OK? Any Day theme is a reminder that people can be struggling and need support at any time.
Busways invited employees to tea and coffee sessions across all 20 of its depots in NSW and South Australia, providing a relaxed environment for employees to connect and engage in meaningful conversations.
R U OK? Day resources were shared including guidance on how to ask, listen, encourage action, and follow up with colleagues, empowering support for teams and fostering a culture of empathy.
A visit to Busways National Support Office from Nepean Therapy Dogs offered the therapeutic benefits of canine companions. This combined with board games and morning tea brought a bright spark to the office promoting bonding.
“Informal gatherings are important for staff to connect on a personal level, making it easier for them to reach out and support each other. At Busways, we believe in creating a culture of care, connection, and open conversation,” said Carly Bowman, HR Strategy & Project Manager.
Busways' is dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive workplace, raising awareness of mental health issues, and providing valuable resources for its employees.
R U OK? is a non-profit organisation that encourages proactive conversations about mental health, helping people recognise signs of distress and connecting them with appropriate support before a crisis occurs.
