Our littlest public transport users learn about bus safety

Kids boarding bus

We had over 25 pre-kindy students from Green Leaves Early Learning Seaford Meadows learn some vital bus safety skills last week from Busways School and Community Educators Brian and Sally.

Lynn Horn, Centre Director booked the session to help teach the pre-kindy students to be bus aware.

“What a fabulous excursion! starting off with a quick in classroom chat about bus safety then a bus trip for the kids to practice what they’ve learnt, “ Miss Horn said.

All eyes were on Busways’ team as they began the session with an engaging, interactive class lesson followed by a short bus ride around Lonsdale and an exciting ride through the bus wash!

The bus ride provided some of Seaford’s littlest students with a clear visual example of responsible behaviour on board, allowing them to apply their newfound knowledge.

“The kids we’re buzzing with excitement as they climbed aboard the bendy bus for a quick trip around Lonsdale and even making a pit stop through the bus wash,” said Miss Horn

“It’s never too early to start educating children on the fundamentals of bus safety; as students’ progress through their school life,” Miss Horn added, “It’s important to foster responsible public transport habits and invaluable lessons on bus and road safety from a young age.”
