At Busways we love connecting with the community and one of our favourite activities is our annual Christmas bus fundraiser. In the festive spirit, our depot teams decorate some buses with all things Christmas for you to enjoy on your travels.

With a selection of Busways buses showing off their joyful Christmas looks on a range of different routes you may even witness some of our Bus Drivers being extra Christmassy this year, wearing reindeer ears or Christmas hats to bring a dose of happiness to our customers.  

Customers can identify the Christmas themed bus services by looking for the Christmas emoji on transport apps including Tripview and Opal Travel.

This year each depot has chosen a local cause to support. We encourage you to look out for the onboard Christmas posters and scan the QR code to donate funds to a great cause that supports children and their families.

In the festive spirit of giving, Bus Driver Dave Johnson from Laurieton has been involved with the Christmas Buses for over 6 years. He is the driver and host of a Christmas Lights Tour in the Christmas themed bus for the local Laurieton Lakeside nursing home residents each year.  

“The tour helps these important members of our community regardless of their mobility to get out and enjoy a magical Christmas lights display by local residents. It’s nice to be able to do something for my local community, make them smile and get into the festive spirit.”

Busways’ joyfully decorated Christmas buses will be on display and accepting online donations until Saturday 31 December 2022.

Thanks to donations from customers, staff and Busways price matching, we are pleased to announce that over $6,750 was raised for local charities through the Christmas Bus Initiative.
