Busways expands Zero Emission Bus fleet with six new electric vehicles!

Busways has welcomed six new Yutong E12 zero emissions buses (ZEBs) to our Penrith fleet!

The arrival of these new ZEBs means our Penrith depot will now operate the second largest electric bus fleet in NSW, with 18 electric buses in total.

Managing Director of Busways, Byron Rowe, says the addition continues Busways’ journey to decrease carbon emissions.

“These new ZEBs are part of our plan to increase sustainable outcomes for communities and contribute to NSW’s objectives of cutting emissions by 80% by 2035.

“In their first year of operation these six new ZEBs will save over 200 tonnes of Co2 emissions from entering the environment in the Western Sydney area, compared to diesel buses,“ Mr Rowe said.

“Combined with our existing 12 battery electric Custom Dennings, the electric fleet is estimated to save over 620 tonnes of Co2 emissions locally in Western Sydney.”

“We look forward to continuing to deliver positive outcomes for our local communities.”

Busways has already trained over 80 drivers and seven mechanics on the new vehicles with more drivers undergoing training this week.

Four of the Yutong electric buses are already on the road, with the rest running soon.
