Beach to Brother back with the support of Busways

The Beach to Brother Trail Run Festival is back with the starting gun set to go off Sunday 2 October with Busways on board again as a major sponsor.

The event sees participants traversing through the spectacular scenery of the Port Macquarie-Hastings region and features a selection of races, including a 5km walk/run, 10km walk/run, half marathon, a marathon and a team relay marathon.

The first event, the individual marathon (42.2KM) kicks off at 6am and takes up to 7 hours to complete. All races finish 500m above sea level at the top of the North Brother mountain in Laurieton.

“We are pleased to be supporting this event again this year for the local community as it symbolises the Busways mantra of connecting people,” said Mark Lawrence, Service Delivery Manager NSW North Coast.

“Events like this encourage community participation and inclusion, providing a safe place where people can have fun with their families, friends and the community.”

Busways has sponsored the event since 2017.

The event is designed for participants of all abilities, from ages eight and up, with distances to suit all fitness levels including a marathon, half-marathon, a 10km dash, the Busways 5km fun run and a four-person team relay marathon. The event’s oldest participant was 78 years old!

The event is a qualifying race for the Six Foot Track marathon in Sydney and raises much-needed funds for the NSW Cancer Council, which last year saw over $30,000 donated to support their cause.

The Laurieton Depot team will be delivering shuttle buses for all participants at the annual run.

Busways will operate shuttle buses from 10:30am and run in a one-way loop from the base of Captain Cook Bicentennial Drive (Laurieton Busways depot) to Laurieton reserve, then North Haven, Lake Cathie, Town beach in Port Macquarie, finishing at the base of Captain Cook Bicentennial Drive. The shuttle bus services finish at approximately 2:05pm.
