WOW Day - Wear Orange on May 10 to Support SES Volunteers

24 Apr 2017

GET INVOLVED AND SAY THANK YOU THIS WOW DAY TO SES VOLUNTEERS

Busways will be acknowledging the hard work of our State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers by turning orange on May 10th for Wear Orange Wednesday (WOW Day).

WOW Day is a national day of recognition for the SES volunteers, who do so much for Australian communities in times of emergency and recovery. The focus of the day is to show appreciation by wearing the colour orange - a very simple but highly visible gesture.

We'll be supporting this great initiative and increasing awareness for the outstanding work by SES volunteers with a number of activities which include:

  • encouraging drivers to wear orange on the day
  • WOW Day BBQ events at Busways depots with best dressed competitions and prizes
  • turning our Busways website and Twitter orange.

“It's a great day to say thanks and show appreciation for SES volunteers who have dedicated their time and energy in assisting communities whenever there is wild weather, flooding or serious road accidents,” said David Collins, Group Operations Manager.

Skye Lever, Training Officer for Busways and SES Volunteer thinks WOW Day is a great initiative. “It’s a fun and simple way to recognise the outstanding work conducted by our SES volunteers, who have provided much needed assistance to the communities throughout Australia.”
