Proudly supporting White Ribbon Day 2016
07 Nov 2016
Busways is proud to announce our support for White Ribbon Day to be held on the 25th November 2016.
Busways is supporting White Ribbon by encouraging employees and the public to ‘stand up, speak out and act to prevent men’s violence against women’. White Ribbon decals are being placed on all Busways buses from Blacktown to Yamba in hopes of raising awareness for White Ribbon.
With a number of activities planned across Busways we hope to spark conversation about White Ribbon day and its goals. We will transform our fleets destination signs with messages of support for White Ribbon Day; place decals on every bus from Blacktown to Yamba; provide sponsorship to various White Ribbon Day events such as the White Ribbon Coastal Walk in Port Macquarie; provide support for recent residents of family shelters within our operating areas and most importantly supporting our staff through assistance programs, providing information on how to speak out and how to pledge.
“The transport industry is somewhat male dominated and Busways is not indifferent to that, as such I am proud that Busways has placed so much importance on supporting and raising awareness for White Ribbon Day not just on the day its celebrated but beyond,” said Steven Hawkins, Busways Group Operations Support Manager.
