Hawkesbury Gazette – Jeans for Genes Day: Busways Mulgrave Depot Staff wore denim

09 Aug 2016

Last week the Hawkesbury Gazette wrote a news article about Busways Mulgrave drivers supporting Jeans for Genes Day, see below for full story.

LOCAL Busways drivers and depot staff donned denim for Jeans for Genes Day on Friday, August 5, and raised some much-needed funds for the Children’s Medical Research Institute.

Mulgrave Depot manager Ian McCutcheon said the team raised over $80 through gold coin donations.

“Every little bit counts,” he told the Gazette.

Jeans for Genes day is an annual event that takes place on the first Friday in August.

People are encouraged to wear their favourite demin piece of clothing, and either donate money or purchase merchandise, to support genetic research at the Children’s Medical Research Institute.

The local Busways depot takes part in a number of fundraising activities throughout the year, including a fruit sale  in which drivers donate 50 cents for a piece of fruit and all the money goes towards the local Guide Dogs.

“This is a regular thing throughout the year and we’ve recently given them a cheque for $700,” said Mr McCutcheon.
