Australians Say Public Transport is a Priority Issue

24 Mar 2010

The Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies (University of Sydney) released its first Transport Opinion Survey (TOPS) on 23 March. Tops is a national, quarterly survey of Australians' sentiments regarding transport.

The March results show that Australians consider public transport to be a priority issue. One in five Australians nominate either transport (9%) or infrastructure (10%) as one of the two highest priority issues in Australia today. Over half of Australians (58%) say the highest priority issue for transport in Australia is public transport improvements, more than twice as many as say road improvements (23%).

The Transport Opinion Survey is a quarterly survey of 1,000 adults aged 18 years and over across Australia. The sample is representative of Australia’s population distribution and demographic characteristics. Read the full report here.
